Our Volunteer Voices
Voices from those leading the charge in our community.
“I really believe in Break The Divide’s programs and would have wanted it in my own classroom when I was young. It hit close to home for me, and it was really beautiful to be in the facilitator-mentor role for something so personal.”
“The best part about volunteering with Break The Divide was the lovely support staff. The whole team was always so helpful and supportive and always made sure we felt safe, welcome, and comfortable! It was great working with everyone!”
"I really enjoyed engaging with the students to talk about climate change. They had some really amazing ideas and perspectives. These kids are the future decision makers and it's about time they get more of a platform about what they would like to see."

Volunteer Impact Stories
Maryam Haroon
Youth reached through her volunteering at BTD.
"I had a wonderful opportunity to connect with students from all over the world, giving me insight into diverse perspectives and global issues. The experience really accelerated my growth as a leader in my community!"
As a high school student, Maryam took an interest in conversations on climate change and mental health. She joined our team as an Education Volunteer to help build locally-aligned climate curriculum.
Maryam completed training and became a community conversation lead. She led a group of 25 students and hosted a community "Break The Stigma" mental health night with over 200 attendees.
Maryam led international climate dialogues between youth in Canada, Bolivia, and Siberia to explore local climate impacts and engage in intercultural dialogue.
