Your Questions Answered
These are the most common questions we hear from teachers, administrators, and youth serving organizations.
Q1: How do your workshops work? ↓
Our facilitators deliver 45 to 90 minute sessions that fit directly into your class block or youth program schedule. Workshops include interactive activities, discussions, and tools that help students understand their climate emotions, strengthen connection, and build agency.
Q2: What ages or grade levels are the workshops for? ↓
We work with grades 6 to 12, as well as youth ages 12 to 25 in community programs, libraries, summer camps, and youth serving organizations.
Q3: What topics can we choose from? ↓
We offer multiple workshop themes, including climate emotions and mental health, youth climate action and leadership, and connection to place and community. All workshops can be customized to meet your school or program’s needs.
Q4: Do these workshops align with curriculum standards? ↓
Yes. Our content aligns with Environmental Science, Social Studies, Health, and other relevant subject areas. We ensure that climate emotions education supports cross curricular learning goals.
Q5: How much prep time is required from teachers? ↓
Very minimal. Teachers only need to confirm a time and space. We bring all workshop activities, slides, and materials. After the session, educators receive curriculum and follow up resources to continue the learning.
Q6: Can you customize workshops for my students? ↓
Absolutely. During your discovery call, we learn about your class, grade level, interests, and goals so that we can tailor the workshop to your context.
Q7: Is the workshop only about climate anxiety? ↓
No. While many students are experiencing climate anxiety, our workshops go far beyond this single emotion. We support young people in building emotional literacy, strengthening their sense of connection to community, and developing deeper agency and responsibility in their lives. Teachers often tell us that our sessions make their jobs easier because students finally have a space to express emotions about climate change that they have never shared before. This leads to better communication, stronger relationships, and healthier classroom dynamics long after the workshop ends.
Most students are carrying some form of climate emotion, even if it is not anxiety. Young people notice changes in seasons, weather patterns, and local environmental shifts more than adults often realize. They also consume a constant stream of climate related content through social media and school, which shapes how they think and feel about the world. Research shows that when students are given space to process these emotions and are provided with language to talk about them, we see improvements in emotional wellbeing, a stronger sense of belonging, and greater empowerment to take action. These are the core benefits our workshops bring to classrooms and youth programs.
Q8: What is the cost of a workshop? What if we don’t have funding to bring BTD into our school or organization? ↓
We offer flexible pricing to fit the needs of your school or organization. Rates vary by class size, delivery format, and location. We can discuss options during your discovery call.
