Climate Action is at the heart of what we do here at BTD.
Our Past Climate Action Programming:
Break The Divide’s first ever climate action initiative connected high school students between British Columbia and the Northwest Territories to create virtual space for youth to share local experiences with climate change. This project was then scaled to connect youth between seven countries globally, with a total of over 500 participants over three years of the program, connecting youth in South Africa, Bolivia, Taiwan, Russia, and other communities.
Past Program Highlights
Youth participants from Ontario expressed how they learned more about climate change through the BTD program than they had through all of elementary and high school. Educators from South Africa and Bolivia described how youth in their classrooms no longer were as overwhelmed by climate change and felt prepared to take action. Ultimately, this empathy-based approach makes climate action more exciting for youth by allowing them to create long-lasting global friendships.
